HOW TO ARRIVE TO LEÓN

Best options arriving to León!! And REMEMBER, if you are lost in our city, you must go to ALBERGUE DE PEREGRINOS, Calle Campos Góticos cerca de la Plaza de Toros (close to Leon Arena).

By BUS –

If you are arriving from Madrid you can get the cheapest option always by bus thanks to http://www.alsa.es/ And if you buy the ticket 15 days before travelling you will obtain special prizes, or you are younger than 26, and others discounts…

If you´ll arrive to Madrid you will pay around 22 € per normal ticket one way and you will be travelling 3:30 hours if it´s a direct bus or close to 5 hours if it´s stopping in different villages of Castilla. There is SUPRA optional bus. It´s expensive but is very comfortable, with presents, waitress… 

There are some buses by the airport (TERMINAL 4) to León or by “ESTACIÓN SUR”, in this case, guy, pay attention, don´t confuse!!

From the airport to ESTACIÓN SUR DE AUTOBUSES you´ll need take the METRO, http://www.metromadrid.es/, first, taking line 8 (pink), and then, change in NUEVOS MINISTERIOS, walk a little underground and take line 6 (grey) and stop finally at MENDEZ ALVARO. You´ll spend around 40-45 minutes doing all this. And remember, this metro´s ticket will cost 2 € because it´s normal + airport´s supplement.

By TRAIN –

Check the website www.renfe.es and you can see all the details about different trains and timetable in all Spain. Please, see the options and special prizes in “tarifa estrella” only buying online, it´s the cheapest option ;) In case that you arrive from Bilbao, see this other option www.feve.es

If you arrive by plane to Madrid Airport (Barajas´Airport) and you will travel to León by train, pay attention!!. From the airport to CHAMARTÍN TRAIN STATION you´ll need take the METRO www.metromadrid.es, first, taking line 8 (pink), and then, change in NUEVOS MINISTERIOS, walk a little underground and take line 10 (blue) and stop finally at CHAMARTÍN. You´ll spend around 40 minutes doing all this. And remember, this metro´s ticket will cost 2 € because it´s normal + airport´s supplement.

By PLANE –

It´s a pity but actually, León hasn´t Low Cost companies but you can connect from other cities with small planes normally expensive thanks to www.iberia.es

2 possibilities about lowcost companies flying not far to Leon are...

www.ryanair.com – Flying to Valladolid from Milano, Brussels, London, Dusseldorf Weeze, Alicante and Barcelona. In case you choose Valladolid, easyest option is www.alsa.es getting the bus to Leon, around 8 € and less than 2 hours.  Otherwise, you must take one bus or taxi from Valladolid airport, located in Villanubla´s village, and then, take the train or bus from Valladolid´s center. Other possibility is arriving to Santander from Brussels, Milano, London, Pisa, Paris and Rome, but connections to Leon are horible!!. Ey, looking the departure, there are flights from Santiago de Compostela with Ryanair!! 

www.easyjet.com – If you are arriving to Madrid or Asturias also (connections with Ginebra and London). In this case, you must take one bus from the airport, located in Avilés, to Oviedo and then, take another to León, always with www.alsa.es
